What You Need To Know About Entering Competitions Online

By Trevor Johnson

Everywhere you look on the internet these days someone wants to give you something in exchange, it would appear, for nothing. However, whilst entering competitions is a great deal of fun and, can certainly be lucrative for some, there are a few things to be aware of.

Firstly of course; it is being aware of scams. If you think the offer is too good, it probably is. However, it does not take too long to find out whether the operation is legitimate. Just apply a little common sense really.

Firstly, companies giving fantastic competitions are most likely after something from you in return. They may simply want your contact details to add to a direct marketing list. Or perhaps they want your opinion on something, in a market research campaign they are running.

There are those that are set up to make money of course; and it is here that you really should be careful when entering. It should not stop you from having a go however; particularly if you are confident in your entry.

It is likely that contact will be made with you once you have entered the competition however, so it is important you check credentials before entering. Indeed, it can be quite useful to have standalone cell phone and email addresses if you intend to enter many and often.

It is also highly advisable to read the terms and conditions before you enter any competition. Above anything else, this causes people problems as it takes time. However, if you prepare well, this should be perfectly doable.

The more competitions you enter of course, the more you are likely to win; and the more comfortable you are with the Ts and Cs. These tend not to vary a great deal, and you soon pick up the knack of knowing what areas to read especially.

A common problem people seem to have with entering competitions online is not finding out who has won. However, people do actually win these competitions, and a list of winners should be available from the organizers on request. - 29858
